    The Black Lapels

When it comes to the Durban music scene, no picture would be complete without the talented brother duo of Rob and Garth Warren who, in their latest foray, have partnered with local musicians and producers to form the Black Lapels, whose gritty, magnetic and distinctive sound has attracted an impressive following and scores of dedicated fans.

Represented by singer, songwriter and guitarist Rob Warren and bassist and vocalist Garth Warren, the brothers are regularly joined by the rhythmic genius and musically astute Gareth Gale on drums, and fellow Durban guitarist Rusty Red, who is not only a gifted musician but also a talented recording engineer. The combination speaks for itself. Take a listen!

    Melanie Nash

Melanie’s music is a mixture of folk-pop and contemporary. She started singing around 6 and like all parents her mother thought I had a great voice and encourage her to sing often. At 13 her mo gave her an acoustic guitar and her future was set. Soon after getting the guitar and learning to play it, she started to try to write songs. Melanie says there are so many in her head she has trouble finding the time to write them all. The song writing is more than a passion, maybe even an obsession. She does not write songs for the sake of writing, they all have truth in them. Without truth, meaning and passion the song is just a load of words. Every one is from the heart. The majority of her songs come from her life experiences. She loves to unravel the lyrics and the melodies to create her unique sound.
